A Special Card by Brenda

Good Morning Ladies,

Today's card is a very special card that Brenda made for her Friends 80th birthday back in December.
It is made with Sue Wilson's 'Azores' Die set from The 'Atlantic Collection', it looks amazing Brenda, the 'tone on tone' colour theme really shows the die set off beautifully.
Your stunning hand made roses in that delicate peach/pink add that 'extra special' touch,  I love how you have placed them as if they were growing on the stem.  Your sentiment and that delicate butterfly are the perfect finishing touch.
Thank you so much for sharing your card with all of us. XXX

I would like to apologise because for some reason half of yesterday's blog didn't post.
I basically explained that Sue and I did lots of packing in my craft room, to the point that you could hardly move in there!  We also went out for lunch, which was a nice break from this chaotic house!  Thanks for a lovely day Sue XXX

Yesterday Pat and I went out for a birthday lunch at Pat's favourite place (Aston Pottery), we ate and had a lovely browse around the shop, they have some lovely gifts but can be quite pricey!  I hope you enjoyed your lunch Pat XXX

When I got back I packed more of my craft room, it just keeps coming, there is a vast difference between what I use and what I have !! But as I said before I have been crafting for 15 years and I have quite a range of 'Crafting Through the ages' tools, I think  I might do a post about the different tools etc.
Sue and I were laughing at some of my very old cards, which gave us the idea of having a blog post featuring your first cards, are you brave enough, I think we will all be in the same boat! Card styles have changed quite a lot.

I hope that you all have a lovely day,

love and hugs,

Sandra

Brenda-what an absolutely beautiful card, a real Keepsake.

Work was much less chaotic yesterday & I managed to catch up on a few things. I have a meeting this morning which I’m not looking forward to, as I have a banging headache already.

Had a long phone call last night with my Uncle (my Mums brother) which was nice. He’s quite poorly but is always cheerful and always asks after everyone.

I’m hoping today isn’t too busy as I’m off to Tesco tonight to do the shopping . Phil managed to do quite a bit of work yesterday but looked shattered in the evening.

    1. Hi Michele. Sorry that you have a bad headache already, that's not a good way to start the day. I hope it goes quickly x

  2. Morning ladies,

I had a couple of chuckles over your remark between what you use and what you have. I found that out when Jamie and I had finished decorating my spare room into a craft room cum study and I could organize everything into the RUB boxes. And I still find treasures when I am on my annual sort out.
I think we all tend to stick to our favourites whilst forgetting what we have actually bought. Sometimes I buy things because I have seen them on a programme or a demo thinking 'I can do that' then putting away and forgetting all about it.
One last dame costume to alter. It took me from 11am til 5.30 to unpick the bodices from the skirt, then found out it is two dresses sewn together, both different styles. Pain staking work as the crap 'faux satin' shredded as I carefully separated them. Now I can add the extra panels to make it fit this year's dame. I hope they do not ask me to alter it next year again as I don't think they would like my response! hahaha

Onwards and upwards, 'see' you later.
    Love 7 hugs

    1. Hi Cheryl. We all have stash that we bought them only used once, a bit like some of the kitchen gadgets 😊 You deserve a medal for all of the hard work you have put into the panto costumes. Its a shame the director can't sit and watch you work as they would then realise just what a challenge it is! At least you can see the light at the end of the costume sewing x

    2. Hi Cheryl
I think we've all got things that we no longer use in our stash.
As Mrs B said you really deserve a medal for all the hard work that goes into altering costumes. Light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

  3. Morning Everyone
BRENDA- WOW what a beautiful card - in fact more like a gift-. I love love love tone on tone it's always so classy.

CHERYL- good luck with the last 'dame' costume. Perhaps your fingers can then have a rest.

I had quite a productive day yesterday as I printed off the digi stamps from the latest Crafter's Companion Magazine and actually water coloured some snowdrops. Then I finished off birthday cards by inserting their middles so they're ready for posting when needed.

I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing today. Perhaps photographing this week's Challenge and getting them off to SANDRA.

The CAFE is OPEN so pop in if you can for a chat and the usual cuppa.
HUGS are on their way to you all.xxxx

  5. I totally agree with you SANDRA We all have “stuff” I have drawers full of items that have not been used or it’s been rarely used For instance I have one of Crafters Companion 3D folders and it’s never been out of its packaging
Just about to start work (in my pjs- how cool is that) Dancing was great fun last night and I managed to do a little bit of Rueda (my favourite) Then it’s crafting time I need to make a card for our young apprentice- she passed with flying colours Take care all xx

    1. Hi Karen. Working from home definitely has its advantages doesn't it 😊 I so glad you managed to dance a bit last night. Please share the card you make for your clever apprentice x

    2. Hi Karen
Working in your PJs sounds great while your at home. I had a boss who always wore a suit at work she looked more mannish than womanist. However, she expected us to do the same. We didn't but asked her why. Because your dealing with the public she said and need to make a good impression. We pointed out that the public were at the end of a telephone and couldn't see what we were wearing. Thankfully not long after that she was asked to leave.before she got the sack.
Congratulations to the apprentice on passing with flying colours,

  7. Guess who pressed publish too early!
Sandra, we did have a laugh on Tuesday didn't we along with packing. Its fascinating just how much has changed in the card making world over the last 15 years. Not least the quality of die cutting machines, and not for the better I hasten to add. The first die cutting machines were made from metal, so solid and reliable if a bit heavy. I told Sandra it would be interesting to see a time line of the machines and dies along with our first cards. I will dig out the earliest ones that I did record, I'm sure most of us will have a giggle. I'm glad you and Pat had a nice time yesterday. This time tomorrow you will have the keys to the lodge all being well. Only one or two more sleeps now 😊 Take care my lovely xx
I have a card to make so hope to get that finished today after doing some ironing. Sending love and hugs to you all with extras for all in need
    Take care xx

  8. Hello Sandra and ladies,
What a surprise I had when I looked on your block today Sandra to see the card I made for my friend Pam who was 80 on 23rd of December. I wanted to make a card just for her, I’m pleased to say she did like it.
Gosh it must be exciting in your house at the moment Sandra, I’m sure you are counting the sleeps. Hope all is going well. XX it’s lovely you have had Sue and Pat over these last two days, great to have their company and take your mind off all the packing for a few hours.
Thank you ladies for your comments on my card, Love and hugs, Brenda xxx

    2. Hi Brenda
Lovely card Brenda and I'm glad your friend was pleased with it.
Traumatic comes to my mind packing up years worth of things we keep in cupboards. Hoping that someday we might need it. I think you also need to be ruthless getting rid of the things we don't use.
Hope John is feeling better today.

  9. Hello All, we had a really rough night, luckily no damage this time. Great big hail showers today.

Brenda an absolutely beautiful card, looks very Victorian, glad your friend loved, who could not.

Having a quiet day today, as didn’t get much sleep last night as the wind was so noisy.

Sandra, hope your on the downward trek with the packing now, I certainly don’t have any of my old cards, I used only to make them for specific people. I remember it had a butterfly stamp with blue! embossing powder, I thought it was great. I still have my old blue big shot, which must be over 20yrs old I still use it for my big dies.

Hope everyone is ok, and those who are not well are on the road to recovery, hugs Lilian

  10. Hi Sandra and ladies
Great card today Brenda. Love the white on white.
Had a lovely lunch with Sandra yesterday, plus had a look around the shop. As Sandra said it's quite pricey.
Went out for lunch to the Toby carvery in Swindon today with friends. It's great value for money and you can have as much as you like.
Hope Maria and Val are having a lovely relaxing holiday.
Hopefully your at the end of your packing now Sandra.

  11. Hi Ladies
Meant to say we had horrendous winds as well last night. Our hatch into the loft kept banging as well so like Lilian I hardly gad any sleep. Our hatchway is very small and doesn't clip onto anything. Just rests on a lip. Not to sure where the wind was coming from. Hopefully we had no roof tiles blown off.
